Privacy policy

This policy explains what information is involved when you use imgtagger.com (“ImgTagger”, “we”, “us”). The short version: your images and tags never leave your device. Like most free websites, we show ads, and our ad partner uses cookies. Both are explained below.

1. Images and tags you process

All of our tools (the auto tagger, duplicate finder, face sorter and color fixer) work entirely inside your web browser. When you drop or select files:

  • the files are read directly by your browser and processed on your own device;
  • they are not uploaded to our servers or anyone else's;
  • tags, captions, edited images and ZIP downloads are created locally, and they disappear when you close or reload the page unless you download them.

We have no way to see, collect or recover the images you work with. How in-browser AI works shows how to confirm this yourself with your browser's developer tools.

2. Information stored in your browser

To make the tools faster and remember your preferences, some data is saved in your own browser's storage. It stays on your device and is never sent to us.

  • Model cache (IndexedDB): when your browser allows it, the tagger stores downloaded model files (365–455 MB each) and their tag lists in a database called onnx-model-cache, so they don't need to be downloaded again. You can remove them with the tagger's “Delete downloaded models” button or by clearing site data in your browser.
  • Preferences (localStorage): the tagger's blacklist, tags to prepend, add-tag mode, download options and “don't ask again” choices; the duplicate finder's method and sliders; the face sorter's sliders, emotion toggle and filter chips; and the color fixer's global adjustments.

3. Files downloaded from third parties

To run the tools, your browser downloads some files directly from other providers. Like any website you visit, these providers receive standard request information such as your IP address and browser type:

  • Hugging Face (huggingface.co): the WD14 tagger models and tag lists, when you open the batch tagger or switch models, or add your first picture to one of the single-picture taggers (the home page, anime tagger and character tagger), and the model isn't already cached in your browser.
  • GitHub Pages (justadudewhohacks.github.io): face-detection and expression model weights, when you open the face sorter.
  • jsDelivr (cdn.jsdelivr.net): the ONNX Runtime WebAssembly files for the tagger and the face-api.js library for the face sorter.
  • cdnjs (cdnjs.cloudflare.com): the JSZip library that builds ZIP downloads on every tool page.

None of these requests contain your images or tags.

4. Advertising

We use Google AdSense to show ads, which keeps the tools free. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads and measure their performance, based on your visits to this and other websites.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies (such as the DoubleClick cookie) lets it and its partners serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • Other ad vendors and ad networks that Google works with may also set cookies to serve and measure ads. Google explains this in how Google uses cookies in advertising.
  • You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google's My Ad Center. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info (US) or youronlinechoices.eu (EU).
  • In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, a consent message from Google asks for your choice before cookies are used for personalized ads, and you can change it at any time from the privacy link it adds to the page.

Learn more in how Google uses information from sites that use its services. Our code never passes the images or tags you process to the ad scripts.

5. Hosting and server logs

The site is hosted on Cloudflare. As with any website, Cloudflare automatically processes basic technical information (IP address, browser user agent, requested page and time) to deliver pages and protect against abuse. We don't use this information to identify individual visitors.

6. If you email us

If you write to us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in the message. We use them only to reply and to fix the problem you report, and we don't add you to any mailing list. Please don't send images you want to keep private.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand which pages and tools are used, so we know what to improve. It records things like pages viewed, approximate location (country/region), device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site. It does not receive your images or the tags you create. Google Analytics uses cookies. You can opt out with Google's opt-out browser add-on.

8. Children

ImgTagger is a general-audience tool and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in Europe or state privacy laws in the US), you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data, or to object to certain processing. Because we don't operate accounts or collect your images, we usually hold no personal data about you beyond any emails you send us.
